Hydraulic Dock Levellers

Hydraulic Dock Levellers offer the best of current technology – strong, robust construction, safe automatic operation, 100mm sideways tilt for canted vehicles, full rated load for cross-traffic.

Mechanical Dock Levellers

Although not as popular as before (now something of a “dying breed”), mechanical Dock Levellers are still available from IDS using steel swing-lips, to special quotation.

Choice of Lips

The HL Dock Leveller uses a conventional swing-lip. The HL is simple in design and lower in capital cost, but restricted in range because the final lip position cannot be adjusted – the lorry must be perfectly positioned. The IDS TS has a telescopic lip, fully adjustable, by push-button control, so the lip can be adjusted to suit the lorry. This makes loading/unloading much quicker, safer and less open to human error.

Suspended Frame

All standard Dock Levellers use “suspended frame” design, so there is no load transfer directly into the base of the pit. This means the pit base can easily be widened to accept a lowered tail-lift platform (see Pit Construction details) without the need for extra structure supports.

Automatic Return to Cross Traffic

Sara recommend that all hydraulic Dock Levellers include this feature – to return the Leveller to parked position if and when the lorry moves away unexpectedly. Otherwise the lip can remain exposed to possible damage by the next vehicle.
